Welcome to Mindful Monday!
Often times we rush. We rush to pack up the kids and go to school. We rush to take them to their activities. We rush to the grocery store and we rush home to make dinner.
So many moments in the day are lost because we rush.
The moments we miss are small, but miraculous nonetheless.
I work on my freelance writing gigs a lot of the time. I write when I feel inspired. I write when I don’t feel inspired. But I write, and many times, I put so much pressure on myself to write perfectly and make my deadlines.
But moments are lost along the way.
For example, tonight, I was writing. I looked around and noticed my husband who I adore carrying our newborn daughter who is perfect to us.
What a miraculous moment I was missing because I was engulfed in my writing.
So many moments are lost along the way.
And then, we rush to bed and get up tomorrow morning and do it all over again.
But MANY moments are lost along the way. And before we know it, we will miss a majority of our lives rushing.
Folks, I don’t want to live this way and I don’t think you should either.
Take time to breathe in the small moments. The quiet solitude of peace. Of silence. Of stillness.
Be grateful for these moments because they are the moments of quiet miracles that sum up our lives and bring magic to our mundane day to day living. These moments sustain us. These are the abundant blessings that Jesus has showered upon us. He wants us to notice them. And to revel in them.
They are small, precious moments that string our lives together in a glorious way written only by the creator. Stop and observe. Breathe. Try to take it all in. Because before we know it, this moment will be over. And the present moment is where God is and so are all of his blessings.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28.
Notice His works. They are all around us, all the time. And so is Jesus smiling upon us.
So, listen up! Below are three ways to become more mindful of the PRESENT moment, because they are PRESENTS to us, and because, God is only in the PRESENT moment, after all (not the past or future)!
1). Choose at least three times a day to be silent, mindful, quiet. This is the time you will take in the small but miraculous moments of your life. This could be when the kids are playing, when you are walking your dog on a beautiful, fall day or when you are enjoying peace and quiet over a nice glass of wine…
2). Try to stop at the same time every day. This will help your mind become habitual to stop and be more mindful. Like any habit, the more you practice it, the easier it will get.
3). Be patient with yourself! Maybe you only stop once a day for a week. It is ok to build up to it. That is how you will build up to a more mindful life, day by day. Moment to moment. . .

Another small but precious moment…
